Yang Blade 羊刃殺
Yang Blade is a knife-sharp drive. It is set by a yang Day Master (Gap, Byeong, Mu, Gyeong, Im).
What Yang Blade means
Yang Blade means the knife used to slaughter a sheep. It points to the spot where the Day Master's power is strongest, so it is read as energy strong enough to overflow. Old books classed it as an unlucky star, but in work that needs a sharp edge, such as professional and technical jobs and sports, Yang Blade is said to be skill itself. A knife can be a tool or a weapon, depending on who holds it.
How to find Yang Blade in a chart
It is set by your Day Master, the Heavenly Stem of the day you were born. Only yang Day Masters count. For Gap (甲) the Yang Blade is Myo (卯). For Byeong (丙) it is O (午). For Mu (戊) it is O (午). For Gyeong (庚) it is Yu (酉). For Im (壬) it is Ja (子). In the Twelve Life Stages, this is the Peak position. If that branch appears among the Earthly Branches of any of your four pillars, you have the Yang Blade star. Books disagree about Yang Blade for the yin Day Masters (Eul, Jeong, Gi, Sin, Gye), so it is not shown here.
| Day Master | Matching branch |
|---|---|
| Gap 甲 | Myo 卯 |
| Byeong 丙 | O 午 |
| Mu 戊 | O 午 |
| Gyeong 庚 | Yu 酉 |
| Im 壬 | Ja 子 |
People with Yang Blade
People with the Yang Blade star have strong energy and strong pride. Once they make up their minds they see it through, and they hate losing a contest. Many are good with their hands or have technical skill, and they decide quickly in a crisis. On the other hand, they can be short on patience and sharp-tongued, which makes enemies.
In love
In love, your will is clear and you tend to lead your partner. You have the strength to protect a partner's vulnerable side, but you can easily clash hard over small things. With Yang Blade in the Day Branch, battles of will with a spouse are read as frequent, so it helps to set up rules for giving way to each other in advance.
Work and career
It is said to suit work that uses a blade. Doctors, chefs, beauty, maintenance, technical fields, sports, the military and police, and law are fields where sharp focus is the skill. With Yang Blade alongside the Officer star (官星), you are read as moving into a position where you wield real authority in a large organization.
Things to watch
The energy overflows, so watch for injuries, surgery, and quarrels. In years when Yang Blade is hit by a clash, your health and your finances are read as easily shaking together. Letting the energy out through exercise and pausing for a beat before you speak is what turns Yang Blade into skill.
Common questions
Does the Yang Blade star mean a bad personality?
It speaks of the strength of the energy, not of character. What matters is where you aim that strong power. Put it into specialist skills, sports, or study, anything that needs focus, and you get results faster than most.
Why isn't Yang Blade shown for yin Day Masters?
Books disagree on where Yang Blade sits for yin Day Masters (Eul, Jeong, Gi, Sin, Gye). Some books don't set one, and others use a different branch. Since there is no single standard, only the five yang Day Masters are shown here.
