Capricorn personality

Capricorn begins at the winter solstice, 270° of solar longitude. The West calls it an earth sign; in BaZi terms it is the Ox branch, frozen earth that holds metal. Responsible and methodical, you get results even when they take time. Calm on the outside, you carry an ambition you have been growing for years.

Capricorn in love

You build trust slowly and want a partner to plan the future with. You show little emotion and can seem distant, so make a point of small gestures.

Capricorn at work

Management, public service, architecture, finance and administration suit you: work that builds up over the long term.

What Capricorn should watch

You tend to push rest back for work. The Ox branch is midwinter earth, and overdoing it stiffens the body; put rest on the schedule too.

Capricorn: Day Pillars sitting on 丑 (Ox) (5)

The day branch is the same branch this sign is paired with, so both traditions point to the same animal.

Capricorn: Day Pillars in the same Three Harmony (10)

The day branch belongs to the same Three Harmony as Capricorn: Metal frame 巳酉丑 (Snake, Rooster, Ox). They face the same direction.

Capricorn: Day Pillars in Six Harmony (5)

The day branch forms a Six Harmony with 丑. Each fills in what the other lacks.

Capricorn: Day Pillars in Clash (5)

The day branch clashes with 丑, sitting directly opposite it. Outer style and inner pace pull in different directions.

Find my sign and Day Pillar

Your sign is set by the 30° stretch of ecliptic longitude the Sun was crossing at your birth. The cusps (the mid-month solar terms such as the spring equinox) shift by about a day from year to year, so if you were born on a cusp day, add your birth time too. The sign-to-branch pairing follows the names in the traditional Chinese table of twelve stations, whose boundaries sit about 15° off the Western signs. Read it for fun.
